ReTakeThe.City, omdat we zeggenschap over de stad terug moeten eisen. Helaas maken wij de stad niet maar wordt deze gevormd door belangen van vastgoedspeculanten, projectontwikkelaars en buitenlandse investeringsfondsen. Wonen in Nederland, en vooral in een stad als Amsterdam, wordt steeds meer onbetaalbaar. Verder zet toerisme de binnenstad onder druk, wordt het huurrecht kapot geflexibiliseerd en is er door de ontruimingen en vercommercialisering steeds minder vrije ruimte voor cultuur. En hoe gaan we vaart zetten achter de broodnodige klimaattransitie en zorgen we ervoor dat die rechtvaardig plaatsvindt? Het is de hoogste tijd dat we bewegingen opbouwen die tegenmacht kunnen bieden. Met ReTakeThe.City willen we bijdragen aan het organiseren en mobiliseren van antwoorden van onderop voor de crisis op het gebied van wonen en klimaat.
In de workshops en discussies willen we de vragen stellen die nodig zijn om deze antwoorden te formuleren. We willen de structuren van verzet versterken en verduurzamen. Handvaten ontwikkelen, eisen formuleren en plannen smeden.
We beginnen op vrijdagavond (om 19.00) met presentaties uit het ‘militant research’ netwerk van activistische onderzoekers uit verschillende landen. Om 21:00 begint de maandelijkse Ru Paré Open Mic, dit keer met Tijdelijke Toon als host met als thema ‘van wie is de stad?’
Op Zaterdag beginnen we met lunch en daarna een plenaire opening. In de middag vinden er parallelle workshops plaats en ‘s avonds eindigen we weer plenair met sprekers en muziek. Details over het programma volgen.

because we must reclaim control of the city. Unfortunately, we do not
make the city but it is formed by the interests of real estate
speculators, project developers and foreign investment funds. Living
in the Netherlands, and especially in a city like Amsterdam, is
becoming increasingly unaffordable. Furthermore, tourism is putting
pressure on the city center, tenancy law is being destroyed through
flexibilization and with the eviction of places like ADM and
increasing commercialization there is less and less free space for
culture. And how are we going to speed up the much-needed climate
transition and ensure that it takes place fairly? It is time to build
and strengthen movements that can offer counter power. With
ReTakeThe.City we want to contribute to organizing and mobilizing
bottom-up responses for the housing and climate crisis.
In
the workshops and discussions we want to ask the questions that are
needed to formulate these responses. We want to strengthen the
structures of resistance and make them more sustainable. Developing
tools, formulating demands and forging plans.
We start on
Friday evening (at 7 p.m.) with presentations from the “militant
research” network of activist researchers from different
countries. The monthly Ru Paré Open Mic starts at 9 p.m, this time
with Tijdelijke Toon as
host and ReTakeThe.City as theme.
On Saturday we will start with lunch and a plenary opening as kick-off. Parallel workshops take place in the afternoon and in the evening we end in plenary session again with speakers and music. Details about the program will follow!
